Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic is a non-profit, community-based dental clinic located in Seattle, Washington, USA. The clinic provides dental services for children and families who are low-income, lack dental insurance or access to dental care, and are residents of Seattle and the surrounding areas.
The clinic was founded in 1960 by Dr. Odessa Brown, a local dentist who was committed to providing dental care for children in low-income families and was named after her. In its early years, the clinic provided dental services at a mobile clinic vehicle on wheels until it established its first dental office in the Central Area Health Center building in Seattle’s Central District in 1970. In 1993, the clinic moved to its current location in the Mount Baker neighborhood of Seattle.
The clinic’s services include dental exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and referrals for more complex dental procedures. It also provides education and prevention programs to help patients maintain good oral health habits. The clinic is staffed by a team of dentists, hygienists, assistants, and other support personnel who volunteer their time and services. Many of the clinic’s patients are referred by social service agencies, schools, and other community organizations.
Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic is a member of the American Dental Association and the Seattle Dental Service. It is also a founding member of the Children’s Dental Health Center of Washington State, a non-profit organization that provides dental care for Washington State’s low-income children.
